Our aim is to provide a focal point within the Land of Oak & Iron where residents and visitors alike can meet, eat and reflect on the impressive surroundings.
The Land of Oak & Iron Heritage Centre tells a big story – that of industrial revolution and reclamation by nature, over 500 years.
We value the history and heritage of the area and many of our visitors remember the Derwenthaugh Park when it was a working coke works. Our gift shop provides locally sourced historic books and maps so visitors can read more about the area and how it's developed over many years.
We’ve captured elements of this within café shrub; from using hand-made, up-cycled furniture to supporting local businesses as our suppliers.
Fresh, seasonal, natural ingredients are used across the menu of regionally inspired dishes.
We have a range of facilities available for visitors including:
Free onsite parking
Cycle racks visible from the café
Baby changing facilities & Disabled toilets
